Photobucket is a popular online service for sharing photos and downloading images from other users. This Android version, Photobucket Mobile, allows you to quickly exchange photos on your phone using the service.
Search images with Photobucket
Photobucket Mobile is a very compact application, organized into four tabs for searching photos uploaded by others, viewing your albums, uploading pictures and managing your settings. The main ‘Find Stuff’ window of Photobucket Mobile allows you to flick through different categories of background wallpaper, such as nature, abstract, beaches, colorful and stars.
Alternatively, Photobucket Mobile also lets you search by keyword for the kind of image you’re looking for. Search results are returned in the form of a grid of thumbnail previews. Tapping on a thumbnail will expand it to full screen, from where you can download it to your phone, share it with your friends, copy to your Photobucket album, or view pertinent links.
Manage your images
You can sign into Photobucket Mobile with your Photobucket account directly through the app, or create a new account. Once you’ve done this you’ll be able to view and manage images you’ve already uploaded and upload new ones through Photobucket Mobile. You can choose to upload an image already stored on your device or capture one using the camera and send it to your online album instantly.
There are a few handy options within Photobucket Mobile. You can choose your default album to upload to, and enter a default title and description for uploaded images. There’s also an option for automatically uploading images when they are added to your phone. Be careful though, because this is enabled by default, so be sure to uncheck this option if you don’t want the app running every time you take a picture.
We encountered some annoying glitches within Photobucket Mobile that spoiled what would otherwise be a great user experience. Often, the application will suddenly not recognize images and throw up an error message. It also forced closed a lot, which quickly gets very irritating.
Hopefully, these stability issues will be ironed out with an update soon because aside from this, Photobucket Mobile is a great little app for sharing photos online.
